However, faced with a plethora of product specifications, beginners often feel at a loss: How much thrust do I actually need? Should I choose 24V or 48V? What advantages does FOC control offer?

Beginners often mistakenly equate "thrust (kilograms)" with a vessel's load-bearing capacity. In fact, buoyancy supports the weight; underwater thrusters fight against water resistance, wind, waves, and currents. 5kg - 10kg Thrust: Suitable for light recreational use. This range is sufficient for cruising on calm lakes with a single-person fishing kayak or an electric SUP.

24V Propulsion Systems: The top choice for recreationalists and DIY enthusiasts. Batteries are easy to source, portable, and cost-effective. 48V High-Power Systems: Designed for offshore cruising, heavy loads, and professional marine projects. Higher voltage means lower current for the same power output, effectively reducing heat and power loss. 3. ESC Technology Explained: The Essential Difference Between PWM and FOC


Brushless motors require an ESC (Electronic Speed Controller)—the "brain"—to function. We offer two mainstream solutions:

PWM (Square Wave) ESC: Traditional and reliable, with strong compatibility and high cost-effectiveness. It emits a slight buzzing sound at full throttle and has average low-speed smoothness, suitable for budget-conscious daily entertainment.

FOC (Field-Oriented Control): The standard for high-performance upgrades. FOC ESCs run extremely smoothly, are energy-efficient, and are virtually silent. If you desire a quiet trolling experience that doesn't spook fish, or require precise micro-control at ultra-low speeds, the enhanced quality of an FOC system is well worth the investment. Additionally, built-in over-current, over-heat protection, and signal ramp linear processing ensure a longer device lifespan.


4. Single Underwater Thruster vs. Dual Underwater Thruster Layout


Single Motor Configuration: The preferred choice for 90% of kayak conversions and SUP boards. It's lightweight, power-efficient, and easy to install.

Dual Motor Configuration: A heavy-duty solution for wide-hull or catamaran boats. Not only does it double the torque, but it also allows for differential steering, enabling the boat to spin on the spot or even translate sideways without the need for an extra rudder, significantly enhancing maneuverability. 5. Battery Matching: Say No to Range Anxiety


Never pour your entire budget into the motor while skimping on the battery. Continuous high-current discharge places extreme demands on battery quality. We recommend using high-quality marine LiFePO4 (Lithium Iron Phosphate) battery packs:

Short Recreational/SUP (24V): A 24V 50Ah battery is expected to provide 1-2 hours of runtime.

All-day Lake Trolling (24V): A 24V 100Ah battery can support over 2-3 hours.

Note: Strong currents, headwinds, or continuous full-throttle operation will drain the battery exponentially faster. Please ensure you leave a safe margin.


6. The Four Cardinal Sins for Beginners


Blindly Pursuing Extreme Thrust: Oversized motors require heavy batteries, making the overall setup cumbersome to transport and ultimately leading to it being left unused. The golden rule: Equipment must match your real-world environment.

Ignoring Shallow Water Risks: Gravel can easily damage open rotors. If operating in muddy rivers or sandy beaches, be sure to select a model with a protective anti-sanding shroud.

Improper Installation Depth: If mounted too shallow, the propeller will suck in air, causing "cavitation"—violent vibration and a complete loss of thrust. Ensure the hub is fully submerged.

Neglecting Freshwater Rinsing: Salt spray corrosion is relentless. After every saltwater use, spend two minutes rinsing the underwater thruster with fresh water and check the shaft for debris. This is the key to extending equipment life.
