According to the team from Northwestern Polytechnical University, the soft-body underwater vehicles they have developed currently come in two versions: light and heavy.
The light‑weight vehicle has a wingspan of 1–3 meters and can carry 50–500 kg of light equipment, mainly used in civil fields such as marine fisheries.
The heavy‑weight vehicle has a wingspan of 5–8 meters, can carry 1–5 tons of heavy equipment, has a maximum gliding endurance of 60 days, and can perform various tasks at a water depth of up to 1000 meters.
