The national key R&D program project "Development of a Deep-Sea Crawling-Swimming Hybrid Unmanned Submersible", a key special project under "Key Technologies and Equipment for Deep Sea", has passed the comprehensive performance evaluation. The project is undertaken by the 719th Research Institute under China State Shipbuilding Corporation (CSSC), and the submersible is named Qilin.
Qilin can meet the requirements of close-range, precise and stable observation and auxiliary operations in complex deep-sea environments. It will provide new equipment for marine resource exploration, seabed environmental monitoring, emergency search and rescue, as well as information collection and disposal, with important scientific research and application value.
